I just recently saw that Philadelphia Phillies fans were referring to the major league baseball postseason playoffs as Red October. I hadn't heard that before but after last year's run to the World Series I could see it happening again with this postseason run. It's too bad it ended last night but it was exciting while it lasted.
We've been watching the many games of this postseason against the Marlins and then that nice series beating the league leading Braves. The early games against Arizona were exciting and the Phillies were putting on a home run derby demonstration but it just didn't last and the Diamondbacks eventually got their number. The last two games of that 7 game series were sad to watch the Phillies lose their mojo. They just didn't have it anymore and their Red October postseason came to an end. At least last year they got into the World Series before eventually losing to the Houston Astros. This year the Astros lost this week to the Texas Rangers so they ended their series run early too and there was not to be a repeat of last year.
It was certainly a lot of fun watching the games held in Philly where the fans were just awesome. The other cities in the postseason didn't come close to the Phillies fans for intensity and excitement.
I looked up the images of the Red October and was surprised by the variety of pictures as banners, signs, clothing, etc. They were everywhere.
The Phillies were World Series champions in 1915, 1950, 1980 and 2008. They also played in the postseason in 2022, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 1993, 1983, 1981, 1978, 1977, and 1976.
