The other day Becky made some tacos for dinner and we needed some salsa. Went down to the basement and brought up a jar of salsa. Becky couldn't open it and she gave it to me. I couldn't open it even with a plastic grip. I tried and tried. Went down and brought up another one but that would not open either. Finally on the third try I got one opened and my hand was really sore.
The next day my right hand was still sore and I saw that there was some actual bruising just below my knuckles. Never had that happen before. So why were the jars so hard to open. There have been times when they have been hard to open but there was never a time when I couldn't get one opened. Must be getting old. Or maybe it was because it was cold down in the basement and the jars were cold. Maybe we probably don't usually have tacos in the winter.
I took one of the unopened jars of salsa and put it in the upstairs cabinet. So next time we need a jar of salsa there will be one upstairs in the nice warm kitchen cabinet. Then when that one is used up I'll go down and get another one from the basement and put it in the nice warm kitchen cabinet. Or we can find a young person with strong hands to open our jar of salsa. Or maybe we should find some device for old people to open hard to open jars.
