The Iceman Jerry Butler passed away yesterday. I always loved his songs going back to his early days in The Impressions. He was the epitome of 60's Chicago soul. I'm listening to him in the kitchen now as I write this.
I only have two Jerry Butler but he really didn't record a lot and he was mostly a singles artist but there are several good compilations available. I really like the Rhino compilation The Best of Jerry Butler from 1987 that has all of his hits including when he was with The Impressions.
Later I got the Philadelphia Sessions released in 2001 which is basically two albums; The Iceman Cometh from 1968 and Ice on Ice from 1969 along with some other tracks from the era from several other albums.
