Heads Up... Nuts!

We have a lot of black walnuts in our trees this year and they are coming down. I mentioned last month that it was walnut time already and I've been out picking them up every day over the past week or so.

I picked up a bunch today but this one in the photo was special. It came down right where Becky was sitting reading a book an hour or so ago. It would probably have clocked her on the head because that was the chair where she was sitting.

That nut came down and broke right through the lawn chair. I first found a piece of plastic on the ground. I picked it up and realized it was from one of our chairs and lo and behold... the piece came from where the nut hit the chair and sent it flying.

There was another chair next to the one that got hit by the nut. That chair got lots of hits too but a different kind. That chair got hits from pieces of some nuts chewed up by squirrels and dropped to the ground or in this case the chair.

Those nut droppings really stain the chairs and are very hard to get off. This chair in the third pick looks nasty. I think it may be time to get some new chairs.
