Black Walnut Time Already

It's black walnut time again and this year it has arrived a little early. Maybe it was all of the recent rain and heat. Today I picked up over a hundred walnuts in our backyard and it is still July. That is something.

We knew it was going to be a banner year for walnuts because there were so few last year but we weren't expecting them so early. I tossed this first batch over the fence behind the back garage/barn where the squirrels can get to them. 

Usually I'm writing about the nuts in October. A couple of years ago we had about 75 bags of nuts. I think this is the first time I commented here about nuts in the yard so early.
