Garden Walk @ Putnam

Today Becky and I went on the Buffalo Garden Walk. It was a very hot day and we only went out for an hour or so. Recently we have been doing just small parts of the city's garden tours and focusing on different areas each year. We looked at the maps this year and decided to go over to our old neighborhood on the West Side and walk down our old street of Putnam where we lived from 1979 to 1986.

It turned out to be a great choice because we were very much impressed with Putnam and the neighborhood. Our old house at 99 Putnam along with several other homes on the block were on the tour. There was also a spectacular Putnam Community Garden where a house on the block was torn down. We had a nice conversation with the person running the garden.

We walked around the block there and saw more tour gardens on Lafayette, Livingston, Baynes and Colonial Circle. The neighborhood actually looked much nicer now than when we lived there 40 some years ago. Of course much of the improvement is because of the proximity to Elmwood Village and the high cost of housing in that area.

Overall we were very happy to that we picked out Putnam for our garden walk. The photo above is of the Putnam Community Garden.
