Hot July Day

Today was a hot July day. Our thermometer read 96 degrees in the backyard and we have all those trees to help cool it off. Some folks online were complaining that Buffalo temperatures were over a hundred today.

Regardless of the temperature readings it was certainly hot and muggy all day and we were grateful that we have central air conditioning in our home... well it least for the first floor. The AC doesn't get to the second floor very well because of our old home vent system which just wasn't designed nor works well with modern air conditioning units. We still need our fans upstairs but it is certainly very nice to have that cool first floor. The basement is actually cold.

So it was uncomfortably hot most of the day. It was too hot to sit on the porch and read or sit in the backyard sunroom. Just too hot. It reminded me of growing up in Philly and also why we don't travel there for visits in July and August.

Earlier this evening we went to an art opening at the Phoenix which I wrote about here. Later on we went for a walk in the neighborhood around 8:30 pm and it was short walk but quite pleasant. The temperatures had dropped considerably and there was a nice breeze. Tomorrow is supposed to be much cooler with some wind and rain. Looking forward to it.
