Spent time today listening to some classic 70's albums from Big Star. I discovered this band the first year I was out of the Navy and snapping up albums I had missed while overseas. The first Big Star was one of them. I was very interested in hearing Alex Chilton and his band as I was a big fan of his earlier band The Box Tops where he was the lead singer. The band initially broke up in 1974 so when I started looking into their music they were already a legend from the past. Their albums became cult classics.
I started off this session with the first Big Star album and then followed it up with Radio City from 1974. Then I put on the Third/Sister Lovers album that was recorded in 1974 but never released until 1978. I ended the set with their Live at Lafayette's Music Room which was recorded in 1973.
This was a nice set of their music. I do have a few more live albums and their Rhino box set but that's another session.
