On Sunday we decided to go visit Dan at Liz's house. We picked Sunday because we would have the most flexibility. Katie drove us over to Liz's house along with Violet. Todd stayed home with Henry and Clara.
We had recently learned that Nick tested positive for Covid although he wasn't displaying symptoms. Dan and Liz tested negative. Over the course of a week or so Nick kept testing positive but after five days he went back to work and school although masked. We waited until near the end of our trip to visit Dan because of Nick's condition. On the day we visited Dan, Nick was at the Eagles game with friends.
We stayed with Dan for a couple of hours and watched some of the Eagles game on TV with him. We had a very nice time with Dan and he seemed in good spirits. He had also not had any alcohol in about a month. He showed me his foot which was improving but he would know more later in the week when he saw his doctor.
He was very happy that Violet was there with us. Dan had ordered a pizza and when it was delivered Liz's dog Bella started barking. Now Bella is much bigger than Katie's dog Stella and Violet was startled by the size and loudness of Bella's response to the delivery guy. Poor Violet started crying but it was brief.
I spent some time talking with Liz in the kitchen and realized she was struggling with a variety of issues including Nick's testing positive, problems with her job, finding a new job and taking care of Dan. It was very good to get her perspective on Dan's problems.
