We flew to Philly for this trip. We usually drive but we had to use our plane tickets with American Airlines that we had scheduled for last January when Katie had her scheduled C-section planned. We had to cancel the flight when the baby came early and we had to drive down in December 30th. The airlines don't give refunds but instead force customers to use the tickets within the calendar year. So we decided to use them in late September and early October rather than over the holidays when flying gets so crazy. Already there have been hundreds of delays and cancellations during busy times all summer so we were being cautious about when to use the tickets. We thought it better to fly during a non-busy non-holiday time.
I just realized that we flew to Philly and back for our visit with Katie and the family last October too. It was also under similar circumstances because we had to use tickets we had previously purchased for March 2020 but didn't use of course because of the pandemic. I wrote about that experience of Flying Again last October.
The flight this October was uneventful. We wore our masks the entire time both in the airports and on the flights. There were no significant delays and the flights in each direction were about an hour in the air. The thing I dislike the most about flying these American Eagle planes is the noise. Fortunately they are short flights and I usually have earplugs from my iPod on. If I was flying more regularly than I would really need to have some good headphones to block out that noise.
We took Lyft rides to and from the airports.
