I put a lot of songs on the playlist that I knew as a kid and many that have been updated with contemporary artists. I added quite a few novelty songs from when I was a kid and also songs from my teenage year that I thought would appeal to kids today. Some of the lists I saw online had many relatively new songs that appealed to young kids and tweens or songs that spoke to kids growing up.
I started this process in mid October and had it posted on the 23rd. I've tweaked it a little since then and will actually have it as a work in progress as I get some feedback from the parents and come across more relevant songs to add.
When Katie and Todd were visiting us at Thanksgiving I played the mix for the kids and saw how much both of them loved it but especially five year old Henry. Now in January we are staying with the kids for the second week now and this mix has been played numerous times and I really have seen them singing along with many songs but also just enjoying the music.
