Temperatures Rising

We've been experiencing a deep cold for several weeks and during that time there has been a very deep old school snow pack. Lots of days with single digit cold and maybe a high of 10 degrees. It would seem balmy if the temperature rose into the low 20s. There were a couple of days where the temps would rise a bit to the low 30s but that also meant it was snowing and adding to the snow pack. There were also a few days when it was very cold and sunny and some snow actually melted. I've needed to use a lot of ice melt on our walkway beside the house especially around the downspout area where the giant icicles formed. I've been keeping the bird feeder full too.

Yesterday I walked over to the mail box on Parkside Avenue and it was painfully cold and windy too. Today Becky and I took a walk and although it was somewhat windy it was much milder. There were still some streets that had ice and snow on the sidewalks of people who have neglected their property this past few weeks. Probably mostly rentals but certainly not always.

It was 54 degrees this afternoon but there is still snow everywhere. I think we need at least another day of these temperatures plus some good sunshine. I also took down the xmas lights from the porch today and it's supposed to rain tonight and then all day tomorrow. Maybe that will wash away some of that dirty snow.
