Pandemic to Endemic

What will be the new normal? People are starting to talk about the pandemic becoming an endemic which certainly doesn't mean an end of the pandemic but rather the beginning of treating this Covid-19 as a regular part of life in this country and around the world.

Scientist and health officials expect the virus to soon become a regularly recurring disease like the flu with a level of permanence with outbreaks in different times in different places. This is because of the amount of mutations that happen because some people refuse to get vaccinated and allow the disease to expand over time. 

The misinformation and politicizing of vaccinations by right wing extremist will allow this virus to become a regular occurrence in American life when it could have been eradicated by common sense and science. However, the people moving forward with not getting vaccinated now and for years to come will be the most vulnerable members of our society that will succumb to the virus over time. They and their families will suffer the most. They will also be the incubators of further mutations in the years to come.

The CDC defines an endemic as "the constant presence or usual prevalence of a disease or infectious agent in a population within a geographic area”.
