We saw Jim on Mother's Day at Dave and Donna's house. He was home for the weekend while Cassie was visiting her mother in California. Jim told the family that he was going to name the baby Sonny and everyone thought he was joking. Really. We laughed about it and imagined a little baby Koenig named Sonny. Jim's parents didn't appreciate the joke and we wondered what Cassie's Jewish parents thought about naming their grandson Sonny. We all thought about the Italian Uncle Sonny's pizza shop or bar, Sonny Corleone or Sonny Liston.
Well, they named that little boy Sonny and with Linus as his middle name. Must be some kind of new NY hipster name. Dave told Becky the name and he was shocked that Jimmy actually used that name we all thought was a joke. Becky assured her brother that he and Donna will forget the name and love their little grandchild.
She also suggested coming up with a silly grandparent name. We had never told D & D about our "fun" grandparent names that we initially brought up to our kids... Twinkles and Dadsie. There are plenty of grandparent names to choose from on the many online lists.
Henry and Clara were thrilled with the baby's name although Clara insisted on calling the baby Sunshine. Henry has a doll name Sonny and was happy to talk about a real Sonny.
We can't wait to see that new baby in the family. Another boy. It's going to be fun when the family all gets together for the holidays with all the kids.
