This random album effect started with The Beatles' Let It Be from 1970. I had just watched the video of the Beatles' rooftop concert a couple of days ago and wanted to listen to the album from the time of that concert.
So I started off with the Beatles and from there went to the Replacements album Let It Be from 1984. I got this album and their previous record Hootenanny in 1984 when I booked them into the Pastime Lounge where I worked as a DJ. I wrote about that night here. So this album was a lot different than the Beatles but you certainly could hear their influences throughout the record but just a little harsher.
The next album up was the Boston Spaceships' Let It Beard from 2011. This was another side project from Robert Pollard of Guided By Voices and this album was all over the place with every kind of rock music. There are lots of guest guitarist that really make an impression. A good quirky hard rock album.
Next up was the classic Rolling Stones album Let It Bleed from 1969. One could argue a perfect album and certainly sounded great following the previous three records.
Last in the group was Let It Bloom from the Black Lips released in 2005. This was their third album of wild garage rock. This was some crazy stuff but after Let It Bleed?
