I was very sad to just hear about the passing of the singer Melanie. I had always been very fond of her and her music. I especially loved her song Lay Down (Candles in the Rain) that she did with the Edwin Hawkins Singers. A classic. She did some nice covers too including Ruby Tuesday. There were a few songs here and there that I didn't care that were big radio hits like Brand New Key but overall I loved her work.
I saw her perform in 1970 in Chicago. If I remember right she opened up for Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young at the Aragon Ballroom.
