London Day Two - Italian Lunch & The National Gallery

We left the tour outside St. Paul's Cathedral and walked across the Millennium Bridge over the Thames River. This was a footbridge that led directly to the Riverwalk, The Globe Theater and The Tate Modern. We walked along the river and watched some of the buskers playing music there. It was very pleasant on the Riverwalk. You could also see where the tide came in and out on the river which was strange and interesting. Then it was time to the National Gallery as planned so we went back across the bridge and walked down Fleet Street and the Strand toward the museum.

We were hungry so we stopped at the Adore Remo which was a rustic traditional Italian restaurant where we got some wonderful authentic pizza.

We continued walking on down to the National Gallery located on Tralfagar Square. This museum was a very high priority on our carefully researched lists of places to see. There were a lot of people on the Square and there was a protest demonstration going on. We

stood and watched the action for a little while and then headed into the museum. This gallery has a spectacular collection of world class paintings from Gauguin, Cezanne, Vermeer, Turner and so many more. Becky loved it. We spent a lot of time there and saw the entire second level but there was still so much more we didn't see. The gallery was huge.

When we were done with the gallery for the day we took the subway from the Tralfagar Square station to the Gloucester Road station about a block from our hotel. Then in was nap time after a very busy day.
