Paris Day Two - Musse du Louvre

We toured around Paris after our visit to Notre Dame and the surrounding neighborhood. We toured the area of the Eiffel Tower and then went down the Champs-Elysees to visit the Louvre Museum where the tour ended. We could spend as much time there as we want... which was a lot.

The Louvre was spectacular to see that least. We could have spent all day and all of the next few days exploring what is the world's most visited museum and an historic landmark of Paris. We had a brief tour of the museum

highlights that was part of our morning Monogram tour. The tour included Greek sculptures, the Venus de Milo, Winged Victory, Veronse Last Supper, David's The Coronation of Napoleon, Gericault's The Raft of Medusa and of course the Mona Lisa. And so many more greats. Goyas, Rembrandts, Titian, Ingres, etc., etc. There were also so many others we just couldn't get to see. Becky was in heaven.

We saw a lot of the decorative arts and Egyptian works. The building itself was amazing architecture and was the residence of French kings before being developed into the museum.

We did have a problem with the museum floor maps which didn't seem to be up to date. We tried asking some of the museum staff about finding certain artworks that Becky was interested in and we were told to go to a certain elevator that would take us directly there. Unfortunately when we got to the elevator it was out of order. There were several similar incidents as we tried to find our way around this enormous museum.
The bathrooms in the museum were a joke. Totally inadequate and outdated.

Later back at the hotel we were describing out museum experience, which was mostly good except for the directions and maps, to the Monogram tour rep who was very nice and informative. She laughed about the maps and said that they were known for not being very good. Overall she was very helpful, knowledgeable and very pleasant. She told us about her time living in New York as a student and her trip to Buffalo. A very nice girl.
