I started reading this book in mid May and finished it last night. I was very fascinated with this story of 1970 and some of the time's music icons.
1970 was a very important year for me in my life. I had turned 18 in December 1969 and had enlisted into the Navy. I shipped off to boot camp in San Diego in early February.
My father also died of a ruptured brain aneurysm in July 1970 at the age of 47. That incident led me to spending several more months stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Center near Chicago where I had weekend access to lots of great music. I saw many great artists during that spring, summer and fall of 1970. It was nice being so close to Chicago and the many music venues.
