Shepherd's Pie for Dinner

Becky saw a posting of a shepherd's pie recipe this week in the New York Time's food section and decided to make it for us. I had a wonderful shepherd's pie in London several years ago and was all for it.

She tweaked the recipe a little bit as she usually does and put it together. She always reads the comments on the posting from users who have made the recipe and made adjustments or slight changes. Sometimes big changes too. She enjoys reading the comments. The NYT food section has always been a good source of great recipes.

We had some potatoes and plenty of ground beef for this classic meat and potatoes dinner. She thought the overall process was rather easy and quickly done.  She cooked up the meat in a pan along with the vegetables, herbs and spices while the potatoes were cooking. Then she mashed those potatoes.

Then everything went into the big dish with the mashed potatoes on top and into the oven to bake. It was smelling heavenly. We had a wonderful dinner

including some fresh bread from the co-op.

There was also plenty of leftovers enough for at least two more dinners and probably a lunch too. Looking forward to that.
