This was an inside story of how the English Premier League became the richest and most popular sports product in the world. It really was an amazing story. I had never known much about the league and international soccer until the past dozen years or so. The book is really about how a group of billionaires and hucksters recreated an ancient tradition and over the past twenty five years or so remade it into a world wide 21st century entertainment empire.

It was an interesting story of the formation of the league in 1992 and how it attracted the best players from all over Europe and around the world to a traditional English league that was now breaking all the rules. It focuses on the business of running the clubs and the league with an emphasis on television rights and player financial issues.
This highly entertaining and wonderfully researched book is the definitive story of how the Premier League took over the world. I certainly learned a lot from this book, Almost more than I wanted to know about the league and I look at everything about the Premier League differently now.
