Edinburgh Day One - The Ensign Ewart Pub

After a brief nap and rest we were ready to go out again and get something to eat. We decided to explore the neighborhood for a bit and it was still very chilly. Our hotel was the Radisson Collection Royal Mile and was in a nice central location in the old town.  We walked around for awhile and went down the street to the Ensign Ewart Pub which dated back to 1690. It had a very old look to it with low wood beamed ceilings. It felt very cozy and served traditional Scottish food.

I had some haggis and neeks. Becky had a beetroot salad and garlic bread. I was anxious to try some local beers and I started out with a cask pint of Jarl Blonde Ale from Fyne Ales Brewery. Later I had a cask pint of Edinburgh Gold Ale from Stewart Brewing. Becky had some Innis & Gunn lagers.

We hung around for awhile as the pub filled up and enjoyed some live music played by a young man and woman on fiddle and guitar. The pub had a lot of local flavor and the whole evening was nice.
