On Tuesday, our third and final day in London, we planned a very busy day starting with a nice breakfast at the hotel and then walking up the street to the tube station and took a rail line to the Kew Royal Botanical Gardens which was about a 45 minute train ride. We got off the train at the Kew Gardens station and walked a couple of blocks through the town to the gardens. It was a very nice and quaint town with lots of interesting houses and stores.
The Kew Gardens was magnificent and very impressive. We had a wonderful time there and walked through the many gardens and green houses. There were so many very beautiful specimens of trees. A great Japanese garden with a tower and ponds of waterlilies. We spent the morning at the gardens and had a nice lunch at their cafe. The only problem was that the gardens were under the flight path of airliners coming and going from Heathrow Airport. There was a constant noise from all the planes which was too bad as it did have an affect on viewing the gardens. It was interesting having the much smaller Thames River passing through the gardens.
The train back and forth was very pleasant. After lunch headed back on the train where we transferred to a different train going to the Tate Britain.
