We began our last night in Edinburgh by walking down the street from our hotel in search of a nice dinner. We had done our research ahead of time and we had some options. We walked a couple of blocks down to the Cafe Andaluz Old Town where we had a wonderful meal of tapas.
It was a beautiful night and we walked around the area and exploring some side streets. A couple of days earlier we were walking through this neighborhood and a street we wanted to check out that had several restaurants and pubs was closed because a movie was being shot there. The film was one of the Fast and Furious movies that was using the hill for some action sequences.
Now it was open so we walked down Bow street hill to the Grassmarket. We were surprised at how many restaurants and pubs were crowded together in that square and they were all very crowded on this Saturday night. We tried to go into several pubs but they were just too crowded. We made our way through the crowds down to the end of the block and went into a pub we had planned to check out earlier... The Last Drop. We thankfully found a place at the bar and celebrated our last night in Edinburgh and our British Isles trip. We had Guinness and Innis. I had a Guinness Draught and Becky had an Innis & Gunn Lager. I also had a pint of Holyrood Pale Ale from Stewart Brewing, Loanhead, Scotland.
The pub The Last Drop got it's name from the public hangings that had regularly occurred in the public square outside the pub. A quaint Scottish pun.
Then it was back to our hotel for a good nights sleep before traveling home the next day.
