Happy Hour in the Park

Last night I went out for happy hour with some neighborhood friends to the new Resurgence Brewery pub at the Parkside Lodge located in Delaware Park. I'd been trying to get this to happen for a few weeks and finally we did it. We had a great time sitting at a picnic table in the park a short distance from the Lodge and enjoying some cans of beers available from the Brewery.

I walked down the street and met with Ron a little before 6pm. We went another block and met up with Mike. We continued walking into the park and over to the Lodge where we found Rich sitting at a table waiting for us. We were later joined by Kelly who I met there for the first time.

We hung out there talking for about two and a half hours and everyone probably had three beers each. I had an Olmstead Ale, a Delete and Repeat session IPA and a Bridge Lager. All were very good.

I wanted us to do this because if Resurgence is going to make a go of this and be successful in this location then it needs the support of the neighborhood. Right now they have a lease for the summer and must depend on golfers during their open hours Thurs-Sun 4pm to 9pm. They had been hoping to do enough business to warrant extending the lease into the winter and moving their operation into the Lodge itself where there is that wonderful room with the fireplace. We can only hope... and support them. I'm looking forward to stopping in there again soon.
