Earlier today my FB newsfeed was suddenly full of pictures and comments about David Crosby who apparently died yesterday at the age of 81. He was always part of my music life and a young person growing up. In my teen years I was a big fan of those early Byrds albums and I saw them perform in 1967 with David Crosby.
Later in 1969 I saw Crosby, Stills and Nash perform and then again in 1970 and 1974. The 1970 concert I saw was in Chicago and was one of the shows recorded for their live album released in 1971. I never saw Crosby in his later years although he toured constantly. I did get a couple of his more recent albums.
With his long history of legal, drugs and health problems along with his decades of touring it was very surprising he lived to age 81. I had to go upstairs and put the first Crosby, Stills and Nash on the turntable.
