Our Road Music

Listening to music in the car on trips has always been important to me. Especially long drives back and forth to Philly to see family over the years. This is partly why I made mixes on tapes going back to the late 70's and 80's. And then later with CD mixes. Now we have a car that doesn't have a CD player but it does have a nice audio system for Bluetooth, Spotify, etc. and has input for flash drives with mp3 files. That's what I do. I've transferred most of my mixes to flash drives that can play on the car audio system and also on portable Bluetooth speakers. And of course my laptops.

Over the past few years I've kept so flash drives full of music in the car and recently I put together some new ones that have been part of my Final Version series of mixes. The flash drive mixes always need a little extra tweaking of the file names so that they play in their assembled order.

I recently put together a group of mixes I call the Mega 6 Mixes. They consist of four related mixes in a group. Each of the four are Final Version mixes that run an hour and a half so the group together is a little over 6 hours. I put them together on the flash drive so that the 4 mixes grouped together play together in sequence.

The drive in the car right now has been playing it's collection of mixes for a couple of months now and when we got into the car for our trip to Philly immediately began playing where it left off.

The mixes in the lineup were all from the Late Night series and all focused on the 80's new wave music of the time. It was a fun music drive that took about 14 hours in the car. The first mix was part way into it when we started and the last mix was about half done when we arrived home.
