Afternoon at the Albright-Knox and the Burchfield Center

Earlier today Becky and I had a wonderful day enjoying a nice fall day together wandering between art museums... and then a nearby restaurant. We parked the car near the park and walked over to the Albright Knox. We spent some time looking at some of the traditional artwork that has been moved around since the major renovations and new building. We're members of the museum so it's nice to just stop in and spend a little time exploring.

After about an hour we walked across the street over to the Burchfield Center. There were a couple of shows there that we had missed the openings for because of other commitments those nights so we had some catching up to do. One was a solo show by AJ Fries and it was funny that we ran into him in the gallery after he had just completed a gallery talk with a group of visiting students. He was very happy to see us talked for a bit. Then we took a look at a group show that was put together along with the Cleveland Art Museum and including artists from both Buffalo and Cleveland each selected by a representative from the other city. One of our neighbors was in the show and had recently asked me if I'd seen the exhibit. Now we can say we saw the show. It was actually very good.

Then we walked around the gallery and spent a couple of hours there looking. We hadn't been there in awhile so it was nice to explore and see some old familiar exhibits especially the Burchfield collection.

After spending some quality time at the Burchfield we walked back across over to the park. We hung out in the rose garden a little bit and sort of waited to about 5 pm for dinner at The Terrace on the lake in the park but that's another post.
