Mysterious Island & Henry

I was talking to Henry about movies I saw when I was his age or a little bit older including science fiction and adventure movies that were sometimes a little scary. I had a couple in mind and went on their TV streaming service to see if any of them were available. I came up with Mysterious Island which was viewable on Tubi. I had written about that film in 2020 during my Saturday Matinee series. I saw it near the time when it came out in 1961 but probably saw it the summer of 1962 when I was still ten years old.

This was also one of Katie and Sean's favorite movies which I had recorded on VHS tape for them. I talked with Henry about the movie and about reading the book and it's author Jules Verne.

So we watched the movie together on a rainy afternoon on a long holiday weekend. All three kids watched the movie. Clara was particularly entranced with it. Violet thought it was scary and was back and forth looking at it. Henry watched every moment. They liked the big animals and the parts with Captain Nemo. We all had a good time with the movie.
