Furnace Problem - Fixed

First we got an error message on our thermostat but fortunately the furnace was still putting out heat. The message said System Fault - 126 High Heat Cycle Active. Whatever the hell that meant. When I tapped the message I got a further message that said System Malfunction - Fault Code 126 High Heat Cycle Active. Please Contact Customer Service.

I went online and put the fault code in Google to see what came up. There was lots of comments and suggestions of what to check. The first thing I did was change the system filter. The comments also suggested pushing the reset button. I opened the furnace door and looked for the reset button as described but could not find it for sure. At that point I thought it better to get the service person in.

I called our furnace service company where we have an annual maintenance contract and they said they would be there in a few hours. I made the call around 11 am on a Sunday. Because we still had heat we were not on the top of the list for their emergency calls. The technician arrived around 9 pm. He examined our system and made some adjustments. He said all was good. He was actually a very nice young man who sounded like he knew what he was talking about. The system fault error message went away and the furnace was working correctly. We never did have any problem getting heat throughout the day. It was just the damn error message that had me bothered and concerned that something would go wrong over time. We'll see how it goes.
