Mega Mix File Process

It's all about the file.

The mega mix is a very large playlist that included several previous CD mixes rearranged, fine tuned and enhanced into an approximately 8 hour set of related music. It was also made to be played in a shuffle mode whereby any song will sound good next to any other song in the mix.

The files are located in a separate directory located on the C drive and a backup is located on an external drive. The files have been run through the MP3Gain volume control software that balances the sound equalizing throughout the mix.

The mix is located as a playlist on my iPod and the files are on a flash drive for playing in the car media player. There were problems with the flash drive in the car because the media player would play the songs based on the file names in the directory. This led me to edit the file names of everything and added a number series prefix to the file names i.e.  001 through 110. This solved the problem and the mixes were all played in the proper order.

I've also been editing the song files to eliminate pauses, long fade outs, extra sounds, etc.

It's nice be retired to have the time to do these things.
