The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber, 2014
Read in September 2015.
A weirdly strange science fiction novel about a Christian missionary sent to a newly colonized alien world by a powerful corporation to convert the native inhabitants.
I had mixed feelings about this book and at times I found it tedious and lame. Other times it was fascinating in its depiction of alien life forms. "We're the aliens here." The main character is an ex-druggie, former homeless born again religious convert who misses his wife back on Earth and is living with a bunch of ugly aliens. That's the gist of the story told through a literary science fiction novel. I've read better.
