Lonesome Road - Folk Mix 2004

I posted this mix on the Art of the Mix site in ten years ago on February 27, 2004. At the time I described it as "A folk mix. Started out that way but meandered with a folkie feel. Tim Buckley on the cover." A lot of people wanted to trade for this CD mix. This mix won the "Mix of the Week" award on the site.

This was back when I put a lot of effort into the CD cases for my mixes.

George - congrats! This looks quite excellent. The acoustic X seems most appealing to me. I've seen them live plenty of times, but the standout memory is of an outdoor show in Dallas, a small affair in a parking lot of an former bordello (then club in 1993). Spaghetti tangle of elevated freeways and a full moon in the background. Great ambience. Well done.

I don't know too many of these songs, but what I do know looks really great. Love the Cat Stevens track, + I'm extremely curious now about 'The be Good Tanyas.' Congratulations on mix of the week. Out.

Good job, I like the Donovan, Cat Stevens and the Byrds. Very impressed with the inclusion of Fairport Convention. Wish I knew more of the stuff on here, probably awesome. Congrats!

Not necessarily my beer (which is what we say in German, 'cos I guess we drink less tea), but certainly deserving the honor. Congrats! Love the Kottke, Farina, Henske & Fairport Convention picks.
