This is the first novel by Chinese science fiction writer Liu Cixin in the three volume Remembrance of Earth's Past series. I read this novel during a week in April 2021.
This was the first of his very popular novels translated into English. The book portrays a fictional past, present and future where Earth encounters an alien civilization from a system with three sun-like star orbiting each other and thus the three-body scientific problem.
The story begins during the Chinese Cultural Revolution with a group of Chinese scientist working on a project to search for extraterrestrial life. There attempts to send radio waves across the galaxy has made an alien civilization send an invasion fleet to Earth that will arrive in 450 years.
