Babel-17 by Samuel Delaney, 1966. A classic science fiction book that has been on my to read list for decades. I finally got to it this May. I enjoyed it but not as much as I thought I would. Actually I was a little disappointed throughout the earlier parts of the book but it did get better towards the end.
Samuel Delaney is an award winning science fiction author. I have only read one other of his novels and that was Dhalgren which came out in 1975 and I read it in 1977.
I saw something about him recently which made me read this book now. He has been very active in the LGBQT community. He has had a very eventful life. I was surprised he was still around at 83. I also discovered he taught at UB in 1975 as a visiting professor. He also taught in the English department at Temple University from 2001 to 2015.
