Back to PT

It took a while but I finally got scheduled and actually went to my first physical therapy session in ten months and this time finally to focus on my back and left leg. The last time I was going to Buffalo Rehab was for my dislocated shoulder from last Christmas. Then I had to end the sessions because of my scheduled eye surgery last March.

Last week I was back on Hertel Avenue with the same PT person from before... Matt. This time we are focused on relieving the pain and discomfort in my leg and back that has been happening because of the protruding disc in my spine that is pressing on the nerves in my back and leg. I'm also having a lot of pain in my left foot.

I've been to see Dr. Daye again. I initially saw her for my dislocated shoulder and then later made an appointment to check out my back and leg. I had scans done of my leg, hip, foot and spine. She saw no real problems that would require surgery but recommended shoe supports for my feet and to get some PT to stretch my back.

So today I am again at PT on Hertel. I'm scheduled for Tuesday mornings for the next four weeks with Matt.

Matt has a PT student intern working with him from Canisius who turns out to be from Philadelphia. So we had a conversation while I was working on my stretches and it turns out he is from the Mayfair section of the city and he went to Father Judge High School. We had a laugh when I told him I went to their arch-rival North Catholic High School and I was from the Germantown section of the city. And I was also a graduate of Temple University. He was also surprised to hear that I was a retired librarian from Canisius College. Small world.
