Tonight we went back to Waxlight Bar a Vin for dinner for the second time in a month. We enjoyed it so much the last time that we invited Dave and Donna out to dinner on us to celebrate their recent retirements from both their jobs. They had never been to this restaurant. We had a spectacular dinner and lots of great wine.
We started dinner with several appetizers that were amazing. Anchovy toast, pork brioche, borscht arancini, summer squash toast, rice shrimp chorizo. We split everything. Then we had a couple of main dishes that we also split amongst us. Pork maccheroni and chicken roulade. Everything was delicious. We also had lots of wine. Becky had a couple of glasses of a German Rose while Dave and Donna both had three glasses of a Riesling from Seneca Lake, NY. They've always been big on wines but I was a little shocked that here we are with a great wine list of wines from all over the world from a restaurant that has Wine in it's name and you order wine from down the road. I'm sorry but NY State wines can be OK but I certainly wouldn't waste an opportunity to try some good carefully selected wines from around the world. I did. I had three different wines. A Sangiovanese from Tuscany, then a Malbec from France followed by a Monferrato from Italy. All reds. All delicious and different.
Overall we had a wonderful evening and it was great spending some time with Dave and Donna and celebrating their retirement.
