We have been going to Buttermilk Falls near Long Lake every year for decades and never had we seen it so full and flowing so fast. We went on the Sunday after we got to Long Lake and took our usual family photos. I also took a quick video of the falls. It was really something. Apparently there was a lot of rain during the spring and the lakes were all at high levels. Of course Buttermilk Falls is part of the Racquette River and connects the lakes in the area including Racquette Lake, Forked Lake, Long Lake and on up into Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake and beyond.
The video was taken the day before the big storm that flooded the Long Lake area. We heard that the water was even higher after the storm. This is a picture taken from the video which I can't get to post here for some unknown reason.
