Dublin Day One - First Pub

We arrived at our hotel in the morning without our luggage and we were able to get our room to take a nap after an all night flight with no sleep. We got up in the early afternoon but of course we had no clean clothes but that didn't stop us from heading out to see Dublin.

We had a very nice time walking along the quay and canal near our hotel, The Gibson along the River Liffey. It was a mixed sunny, cloudy and breezy day in Ireland but we were enjoying every moment. We were also still looking at for a place to buy a Leap Card to ride the public transportation.

We came across EPIC Irish Emigration Museum along the quay which was very interesting. The best thing was that someone there explained to us all about the Leap Card, how to use it and where to buy one which we did around the corner in a Spar convenience store. We just didn't recognize the Spar sign for what it was. The Spars were tiny little stores tucked away in buildings everywhere and they all sell the Leap Cards. Once you have one you can top it off and any station kiosk. It turned out to be very easy to use once you got the hang of it.

To celebrate our Leap Card we stopped at a pub on the quay called Urban Brewing which had a comfortable outdoor patio and a nice selection beers brewed on the premises. They also had an assortment of other beers from other local craft brewers. I was surprised that the first beers we had in town would be Dublin craft beers.

First I had their Ubbe Kviek Lager and then a Freebird White IPA from O'Hara Brewery from Dublin. Becky had a Stiegl-Weisse Naturtrub Hefeweissen from Stieglbrauerei zu Salzburg. I tried it and it was a very good German beer to find on tap in Dublin.

After awhile we started to get hungry and it was time to move on and explore more. We had done some significant research into pubs and restaurants in the areas where we would be visiting so we had some ideas of where to go to eat and there were some nice options nearby.

We also noted that when we went to the restrooms at the Urban Brewery which were downstairs we found the really fantastic nice restaurant Stack A located in what they called the vault which was a very old wine cellar.  We would check that out another day.
