Lawn Mushroom

Here is a mushroom growing on our front lawn. This is a nice one. It doesn't happen very often but they do pop up occasionally. Usually they grow closer to the ground than this one. These mushrooms are remnants of the old elm tree that came down quite a few years ago. There are still some roots below the ground and the mushrooms are coming up from those roots. There are not as many now since the city put in a new sidewalk in front of our house and dug up a lot of those roots in the process. We still see a mushroom every now and then.
