Kitchen Listening. And the Winner Is: Capitol Sings The Best Movie Songs, 1992. Recently we have been listening to some of the many albums in my collection that are part of the Capitol Sings series of songs from Hollywood movies and Broadway musicals and also featuring many composers such as Irving Berlin, Johnny Mercer, Rogers & Hammerstein, Rogers & Hart, George Gershwin, Hoagy Carmichael, Duke Ellington, Harold Arlen, Sammy Kahn and so many more. It's a lot of fun hearing this music as we hang out in the kitchen preparing and eating meals. It's nice listening to so many amazing vocalist from that era... Peggy Lee, Nat King Cole, Nancy Wilson, Helen O'Connell, Al Martino, Judy Garland, The Four Freshmen, Chet Baker, June Christy, The Lettermen, etc, etc. Becky loves watching old movies and of course I was a Film Studies major in college. And the winner is... us! Lots more of these albums in the mix as I have 14 more volumes in this series.
The music in this Capitol Sings series also reminds me of my childhood hearing the radio station WIP in Philadelphia my mother had on every day that played adult contemporary music throughout the 1950's and 1960's. There was a stack of 78 rpm records in our house back then too.
