Scar Pain

Almost six months to the day after my hernia surgery I started having pain in the scar tissue around the incision. The discomfort varies from a burning sensation to a sharp pain and sometimes a dull ache in the scar area but it comes and goes. There is no apparent reason for the pain except that at first I thought it might have been caused by my belt buckle pressing against the scar tissue. So I started wearing my belt buckle off to the side and it seems to be helping.

I also looked online at some medical sites and looked at some scar tissue discomfort information. It appears to be fairly common to have some pain at the site of a surgery long after the operation. The pain can be burning, tingling, throbbing, and tender which can last for months or even years. I've been treating myself with some heating pad at the site, some messaging the area, applying cream and exercise. It seems to be working at there has been some significant improvement. Enough that I no longer have been considering going to the doctor for it although I will talk to him about it when I go for my next checkup.
