Sierra Nevada Beer

It's beer week so I'll comment on some of my favorite beers throughout the week. Sierra Nevada is probably my favorite brewer. I've liked everything of theirs I've tasted and I've had a few.

Their Pale Ale, Celebration Ale and Torpedo Extra IPA are some of my favorites beers. The Celebration Ale is a seasonal brew that I especially look forward to each year.Summerfest is a warm weather standard. Their hefeweizen Kellerweis is one of Becky's favorites and also a wheat beer I really enjoy. Others I like are their Hop Hunter IPA, their Beer Camp Hoppy Lager which I guess they call a IPL. Ruthles Rye is another favorite.

The Book of Strange New Things

The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber, 2014

Read in September 2015.

A weirdly strange science fiction novel about a Christian missionary sent to a newly colonized alien world by a powerful corporation to convert the native inhabitants.

I had mixed feelings about this book and at times I found it tedious and lame. Other times it was fascinating in its depiction of alien life forms. "We're the aliens here." The main character is an ex-druggie, former homeless born again religious convert who misses his wife back on Earth and is living with a bunch of ugly aliens. That's the gist of the story told through a literary science fiction novel. I've read better.
